The solution should be gently warmed to 37\u00b0C before administration.The ideal dose is calculated based on the bicarbonate deficit (mEq\/L) determined by blood biochemical analysis and the extracellular fluid volume, which is considered to correspond to 20% of the animal&#8217;s body weight.When biochemical analysis is not available, the dose may be determined based on clinical signs, using an average dose of 2 mL\/kg body weight.Depending on the severity of the condition and the patient&#8217;s requirements, the solution may be administered undiluted (8.4%) or as an isotonic solution (1.5%). It may be diluted with 5% dextrose solution or isotonic saline and administered over periods of 4\u20138 hours, at a dose of 2\u20135 mEq\/kg (1\u20132.5 mL\/kg).Treatment should be continued with a 1.5% isotonic dilution.
